Engine Hood Courtesy Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The engine hood courtesy switch is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns off when the engine hood is opened and turns on when the engine hood is closed.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1.

READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect a Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(c) Turn the Techstream main switch on.

(d) Select the item below in the Data List and read the display on the Techstream.

The indicator on the Techstream switches between ON and OFF in accordance with the engine hood courtesy switch status.

INSPECT ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH

(a) Disconnect the A35 engine hood courtesy switch connector.



(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

LOCK position

Below 1 Ω

UNLOCK position

10 kΩ or higher

OK

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH)


(a) Disconnect the HJ4 main body ECU connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
